Combi Boiler Installation in Hereford

The Brief

A homeowner in Hereford was living with a tired combi boiler that was still working but running noisily and losing efficiency year on year. Rather than wait for it to fail in the middle of winter, they wanted a planned replacement with a modern high-efficiency unit. The brief was straightforward: get a new boiler in cleanly, upgrade any controls that needed it, and complete the job in a single day so the household did not have to move around a two-day install.

What We Did

Ben and the HES team worked to a one-day plan. The install covered:

• Old boiler removal: Safely isolated gas and water, drained the old unit down, disconnected, and removed for responsible disposal.
• Gas run upgrade: Checked the existing gas supply to the boiler position and upgraded a section that was undersized for the new appliance, keeping the run tidy and properly supported.
• New combi boiler install: Fitted a modern high-efficiency combi in the same location, with new flue components, condensate routing, and isolators on the fill and CH sides for future serviceability.
• System flush: Power flushed the radiator circuit to lift out sludge and inhibitor debris from the old system, then dosed with fresh inhibitor to protect the new boiler.
• New controls: Wired in a modern programmer and room thermostat so the homeowner could actually see and control what the heating was doing.
• Commissioning and warranty: Boiler benchmarked, gas notified through Gas Safe, warranty registered with the manufacturer on the homeowner's behalf, and a walk-through of the new controls before we left.

The Result

The house is warm, the hot water is instant again, and the new controls give the homeowner proper visibility of what the system is doing. Because we registered the warranty on the day it runs from the moment the boiler was commissioned. The job wrapped up inside the working day as agreed, with the site left cleaner than we found it.
